In the beginning of the 1980’s, Blohm + Voss Shipyard has built a total of 8 MEKO-designed frigates with the cooperation of Turkish Naval Forces Command, 4 of them were of YAVUZ Class and other 4 of were BARBAROS Class Frigates. These four vessels were built at the Blohm + Voss shipyards and the other four were built at the Golcuk Shipyard Command, which belongs to the Naval Forces Command. This gave the Golcuk Shipyard Command the ability to build frigates.

The transfer of these technologies that contributed to our defense industry has been ensured by the realization of these big projects in our country.
